Endometriosis is not a mystery. It is not a disease of white, perfectionist women either. All women of reproductive age are equally at risk.
It is not a hereditary disease. Certainly, some predisposing factors—though rare—may be observed.
It is an acquired inflammatory disease, taking the form of a chronic, low-grade active ascending infection. There are no associated immune disorders; on the contrary, the immune system is strong—it is simply overwhelmed at times because of repeated stimulation and the size of the inoculum.
